By Astrid Bidanec Alburque, NEW MEXICO- Miguel Torres dellivered an amazing performance at the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) Championship on February 13, when he dethroned Chase Bebe by forcing him to tap out, earning the bantamweight championship title in the process.
Jamie Varner followed Torres' winning example and punched the living daylights out of Rob McCullough, making the WEC lightweight title his own. Carlos Condit on the other hand, successfully defended his WEC welterweight belt against Carlo Prater. One of the controversial fights of the evening resulted in a draw between Manny Tapia and Antonio Banuelos, which was later changed to a win for Tapia due to a judge's error. Leonard Garcia put his money where his mouth is and defeated Hiroyuki Takaya by unleashing thunderous punches, leaving the referee no choice but to stop the fight. The victory helped Garcia move one step closer to his ultimate goal of getting a shot at the 155lbs-title. Josh Grispi raised his stock by defeating the notoriously dangerous Mark Hominick by submitting him with a choke that left Hominick unconscious. Showing off his entertaining talent, Ox Wheeler upset Del Hawkins in round two. Damacio Page won against Scott Jorgensen after three grueling and fast paced rounds. Micah Miller was merciless in his punching attack of Chance Farrar, earning the victory in the first round.
